K.L.L.K - "La Voie : Atlantis Nostrum"

Second release on katábasis, our section devoted to Black Metal and Dungeon Synth.

K.L.L.K.'s second EP - already released in 2024 on cassette by the now-defunct Solar Asceticist - is a discreet, intimate but still active band, offering a deeper exploration of what was already in place on their previous EP, “Le Brasier des Mondes” (2017). At the time, the band may have been a little over-referential, but these musicians have now taken a more artistically mature path. ‘La Voie - Atlantis Nostrum’ is an initiatory trance, a quest for the self, a form of existential tension in which the material and the spiritual are brought into dialogue. It's a vast subject that, in the end, is more often than not beyond us, but one that we all have to face up to. This feeling of being overtaken by forces and interactions that transcend us is well captured in K.L.L.K.'s compositions. “La Voie - Atlantis Nostrum” is a ritual far removed from the stereotypes of the genre, and ultimately revives the avant-garde dimension of Black Metal. Existential unravelling, the drive to live and die, the will to power, aborted dreams, grandeur and decadence, fusion with the greater whole, the aristocratic distinction of being... This EP is a painfully wide berth that feels like a diary.
